The Siteground hosting has always needed a few extra steps to setup Wordfence. Siteground is forcing migration on all its customers to a new hosting environment.

How is this going to impact Wordfence performance?

They say it will be seamless, but I am not so sure.

Would changing the server environment kill the firewall or cause other problems?

I realize what Siteground does is not you responsibility, however, I’m trying to be a bit proactive here so people can plan accordingly.

    Thanks.

  • I opened a Siteground account a month ago or so (so it’s one of their “new” accounts without cPanel) and so far no issues with Wordfence. Didn’t need anything special to set it up either as far as I know. Can you clarify what the “few extra steps” would be?

I have an old Siteground account as well which is still on cPanel, but I’m closing that one as of tomorrow. I don’t remember doing anything extra to set up on that one either.

The new Siteground / non CPanel hosting environment is fine to setup Wordfence, easier in fact. My question is when they force automigrate from the old CPanel and hosting setup, what happens because there were custom .ini and .htaccess to make that work in that hosting environment?

    Hey @sdagency,

Firstly, thanks to everyone for sharing.

I don’t believe you’re going to run into any issues. The extra steps that were needed were for sites on cPanel, this may make it easier for Wordfence customers moving forward. If you do run into any issues, please let us know.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
