    Hey guys,

I have an issue with the siteKit plugin that is pretty similar to the one mentioned here: https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/2118

The difference (to the case in the provided link) is that I’m using WPGlobal (beside 19 other plugins). I did also participate partly at the resolution of the linked issue but stopped at one point because deactivating plugins part by part on a live page wasn’t a practical solution for me, sorry.

Since then my webserver setup also changed a bit(different hoster for example). I remember that you provided a link to upload my wordpress-infos. If you could tell me the link again (not sure if the old one is still valid) I will upload my wordpress-infos again. ??

Thanks in advance and best regards
    Fab

Thanks for getting in touch. There are some additional troubleshooting we’re performing with language plugins, in particular those that can feature various URL modification options. If you want to share some additional information the form you are referring to can be found here.

Within the form or here in this support topic please share the following information so we can try and recreate the experience:

    • The steps you take to encounter the lost connection (if known)
    • Any particular configuration which you may have applied if this suddenly started to occur
    • Has this only started to occur since making hosting changes?

In relation to deactivating plugins rather than deactivate on your live site have you tried using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin? The plugins “Troubleshoot” mode switches to a core WordPress theme and deactivates all plugins for you only, as a logged in user. It can be a useful alternative to deactivating plugins during tests.

    Hey James,
    thanks for your reply.
I did upload the WordPress-Health infos at the provided link.

    Regarding your questions:
    – I really tried to provoke the error intentionaly, but I couldn’t find a specific trigger. Sometimes the connection is fine for a week. Sometimes it breaks one hour after reconnecting.
    – If i remember right it occured first time after an update of the sitekit-plugin. Since this error is already happening for a while I don’t know since which update (version) this started to happen, sorry. :/
    – No, it started to happen on my old hoster and the error is also happening on my new hoster. So (at least thats what it looks like for me) the error is not related to the server-setup.

I will check the mentioned Troubleshooting plugin, thanks. ??
Anything else you would like to know?
    Best regards

Many thanks for sharing. I’ve setup a site with WPGlobus although like you I’ve been unable to pinpoint any action resulting in Site Kit disconnection, including testing changes in the customizer and switching languages from both the front end and from the admin dashboard toolbar.

I’ve also tested various configurations, with just the primary WPGlobus plugin and no plugin extensions.

Please do share any issues you encounter while in troubleshooting mode. It can of course be difficult given the inconsistency with your lost connection. Another aspect you may wish to check if your WordPress general settings, which seem to list the /en path as your site address.

    Hey James,
thanks for your reply. I will try to observe the issue and hopefully can observe a trigger. Actually there is a period where the connection is fine for a few hours already. ??

I will let you know as soon as I can observe more.
    Best regards

Many thanks for your patience on this. From talking with the team and reading other reports I’ve been able to recreate this by adding additional languages (via WPGlobus), adding respective title and tagline references per language and then making changes to the customizer.

I’ll let you know once I have more information on this, it may require some further investigation.

No problem, so far it is “just” anoying. ?? (But of course it would be nice if it will be fixed someday. :))

Good that you mention that. Not sure if this helps: I’m using WP Global with only two languages (English and german). I do not change the language in the WP Admin panel (Its set to german). So far I couldnt observe that the connection is interrupted at changing the language on the “frontend”.

Thanks in advance and best regards

Good to know that you don’t need to apply this configuration to encounter this message. I’ll pass this onto the team, who are currently investigating such disconnection using language plugins.

    Hey James,
just wanted to let you know that the workaround provided by Adam Silverstein via GitHub works good so far. Didn’t had the disconnect-issue since then. Shall I report again in a few days/weeks in case everything is still fine? I think the issue could be seen as solved then.

Of course it would be nice if the guys of the WPGlobal team implement this into their plugin, but thats of course not the job of you guys. ??

    Best regards

That’s good to hear, thanks for the update. And yes, that would be great if you could provide an update to ensure everything is working as expected. I can keep this support topic open until then.

Fingers crossed also about a permanent fix applied also at plugin level.

@fabeulous Good news! The WPGlobus team has implemented a fix for this issue in a recent release. We’ve tested and are no longer seeing the disconnect issue. Please make sure that you’ve updated to the most recent version of the WPGlobus plugin and then you should be able to remove the mini-plugin that provided the workaround. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you for your patience!

    Hey ??
    Thanks for letting me know.
I deactivated the workaround-plugin a few days ago and until now everything is working fine. Thanks for that.
In case the issue will occur again I will come back to you. ??
Thanks and best regards from germany

@fabeulous No problem at all, glad we were able to help! Please do feel free to leave a review – we’d love to hear your feedback on the plugin.
