Awesome plugin. This appears to be exactly what I need. I do have one concern though:

I wonder if this implementation of adding spans around the heading element with the ID instead of adding it directly to the heading will prevent the page from generating “jump to” and site link features within the SERP. Have you verified if this happens or not?

Sorry, it’s impossible to verify as Google’s algorithms determine what shows up in SERPS and how. Adding ID directly to the heading tag would not be a good idea as many themes, page builders, and the block editor already populate that attribute. Having the before and after span rags have shown to cause the least amount of compatibility issues.

Anyone concerned with SEO will skip your otherwise awesome plugin, if it doesn’t work. Luckily it is very verifiable and I suppose I’ll test it on my blog then ??

Although I didn’t ask for it, I appreciate the explanation as to why it’s not put directly into the element. I didn’t ask for it because judging from the care to detail in the plugin, I already knew there was a very good reason for the way you implemented it.

Do you mind sharing a few sites that use your plugin? I’d like to see how Google treats them in the SERP. I’ll report back here ofc.

Sorry, but I can not track sites that have ezTOC installed so I have no way to share sites with you.
