There is a setting where you can select which post types you want to include/exclude in your XML Sitemap – https://semperplugins.com/documentation/xml-sitemaps-module/#post-types-and-taxonomies

I already selected posts and pages type, still showing attachment pages in search engines. And also you haven’t answered about indexing sitemap url in google ? how to stop this.

Did you unselect Media / Attachments. If you don’t want attachments to appear in the sitemap then you have to do that.

Did you check the option for Noindex Sitemap? If you don’t want the sitemap to appear in search results then you have to do that. Bear in mind that Google does not have to remove it from their index, but you can try removing that URL using Google Webmaster Tools

Yes already unselected Media / Attachments still getting same problem. Can you clarify where is Noindex Sitemap and if i am noindexing Sitemap then it can affect whole site from indexing because sitemap contains all links, so it will be good to do noindex sitemap ?.

Should i use some other plugin ?, it’s been soo long suffering from this problem, google is effecting my site due to low quality pages All in One SEO is not at all help full, as per my experience they are also not providing genuine reason.

Just because you remove content from the XML Sitemap does not mean that Google will remove that content from their index. You need to submit a URL removal request in Google Webmaster Tools.

You are not understanding my problem, i want all attachment files not to index in Google there are many attachments files. If i remove them manually it takes lots more time.

You can set Noindex for Media (https://semperplugins.com/documentation/noindex-settings/) but again, this does not mean that Google will remove them from their index.

    try (.htaccess)

    RewriteRule (.+)/attachment /$1 [R=301,L]

it should work, but not immediately, have to wait…
