    Hello,

    I have the following error showing in Google Search Console:

    Sitemap can be read, but has errors

    Sitemap is HTML

    Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.

    Can someone please help me fix this error?

  • Hi, it sounds like the search engine is getting a 404 page response instead of the expected sitemap. What do you see if you visit your sitemap URL?

    @ravanh It’s strange becasue I see the sitemap when I check the URL and I have tried to resubmit the sitemap in Google Search Console several times but I still get the error. I have also excluded all the sitemaps from cache. Is there anyway I can send you the URL for you to check out without making it public?

    For anyone else having the same problem, it turned out the sitemap was working when logged in but redirected to the login page when logged out. I deactivated and reactivated all the plugins and the sitemap is now showing correctly.
