Used this plugin on hundreds of sites with no issues, but this install has had a few issues in webmaster tools, including the below regarding my sitemap:

Sitemap can be read, but has errors
    Parsing error
    1 instance
We were unable to read your Sitemap. It may contain an entry we are unable to recognize. Please validate your Sitemap before resubmitting.

    Any ideas?

The sitemap index includes a project sub-sitemap that has no items. Sometimes this can cause issues due to a missing last modified date. Please set the project post type to noindex with the steps here: How Do I Noindex URLs?

Please note that by setting a URL or group of URLs to noindex, they will also be removed from the sitemaps.

Once you are ready to create content for the project post type, please change the setting to allow indexing and, thus, create the sitemap.

Another thing to note: The sitemap has a warning <!-- permalink_structure ends with slash (/) but REQUEST_URI does not end with slash (/) --> hidden in the source code. This could indicate an issue with a security or caching plugin. If the above resolves the issue, this warning can likely be ignored. But worth looking into if the above doesn’t resolve the issue.
