Hi I have number of songs on my site and the sitemap lists all these songs individually as pages even though when I go to the links they bring up a 404 error. Is there a way to stop these from showing on the sitemap? All of them have “/songs/” before them. Can I do some sort of wildcard block?

Hi that’s pretty weird. Are you using a plugin to add the songs? No sorry for the moment there’s no wildcard block.

Thanks for your reply. No, just the normal wordpress add song.

It’s actually also missing many of my “album” pages. I’ve added a few manually….

    Any ideas?

Hm I’ve never heard of add song or album pages in WordPress except you can insert audio in your normal posts and pages? Could you perhaps disable all your plugins for a quick sec (except this one) and see if anything changes in the sitemap? If it’s still the same give me a link to your site and I’ll have a look.

Hi. Really appreciate the speedy support! I tried disabling everything except simple sitemap and it’s still the same.

I’ve added all the songs to the blacklist now so that’s shrunk the sitemap a bit.

    My site is https://www.matthewmooremusic.co.uk

    Thanks again.

    Really appreciate it.

No problems! I had a quick look at your site and if you go to your music page all your albums and songs have a link that lead to a 404 page. So the problem seems to be that your theme or whatever is generating a lot of 404 pages for you, and the sitemap simply just finds them.

Just so you know. But blacklisting always works!

Thanks for letting me know. Actually that was an unrelated problem caused by me stupidly deleting a page on my website 2 days ago! Thanks for spotting that!!!!! Really helpful!

I’ve sussed out the songs issue – there’s an auto-created permalink in the songs page in the dashboard for each song that seems to be wrong. I’ll check that with the creator. Anywho the blacklist feature has sorted that ??

Regarding the missing pages, for some reason the sitemap plugin doesn’t wan’t to list any of my album pages for example:

    https://www.matthewmooremusic.co.uk/album/05-documentaries/
    https://www.matthewmooremusic.co.uk/album/04-fun-and-quirky/

    Do you have any ideas?

No idea really. Your creator might have an idea though, like if the albums aren’t created as actual posts or pages or something

Thanks for your reply, I just did an online sitemap generator and it picked them all up…..
