Sitemap Couldn’t Fetch

Hi,

it can take several weeks especially on new site for Google to crawl and update the info in Google Search Console.

Avoid resubmitting your xml sitemap, this can slow down the process.

Thanks Ben. I think Google Search Consoles way of displaying that error is misleading in that case. Failed UX imo, it should state in progress rather then failed. But I guess that a story for another day.

Funny enough I received this just now “Google systems confirm that on July 19, 2023 we started collecting Google Search impressions for your website in Search Console.” However, sitemap still indicates could not fetch. Odd.

I think this is just a matter of time now.

Not sure, it still is the same, however other data is being communicated.

Try to submit the index sitemap URL without URL rewriting, this might help:

It’s been two days and so far nope, could not fetch.

Update – The site map still cannot be fetched. At this point, I’m on the verge of just giving up and using Google Site Kit.

Is this better if you submit one of the URL of the sub-sitemap like:

https://tastytreats.cc/page-sitemap1.xml
