• WordPress SEO is fantastic, but there’s one small gripe I have with the way its sitemaps are handled.

For every sitemap that’s created by WordPress SEO, each post’s respective images are also included. Since choosing to enable the sitemap option for the WordPress SEO plugin, I’ve received thousands of warnings in GWMT (Google Webmaster Tools) for images that are “blocked” by my robots.txt file.

The problem is, I don’t have images blocked within my site’s robots.txt file. I do, however, use a CDN to serve images, among other static and dynamic resources. In fact, here’s what one of the warnings in GWMT says for the blocked images:

    Value: https://cdn.nintendonews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/pokemonxy.jpg

Here’s my question: Is there any way to disable WordPress SEO from including images for the created sitemaps? An option for the plugin would be nice to have for something like this.

I know this is really old, but I’m still having issues trying to figure this out. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? If so, what was the solution you implemented to correct it?

    Hello,

Similar problem. I also wont to remove the images from the sitemaps…
