    Hello @nvest

Thanks for reaching out regarding your sitemap.

Looking at your screenshot, errors are reported on lines 215 and 259 of your page sitemap. So I checked the page source and line 215 is fine, while 259 does not exist. See screenshot.

The entry on line 215 points to https://www.ongresso-energy.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/pexels-kindel-media-9799757-e1664478313461.jpg, which loads fine. I’m not sure why a reference is also made to line 259 which does not exist.

First, can you check if you have a cache plugin interfering with the sitemap functionality? I’ll recommend checking your caching settings and ensuring that the sitemap is being excluded from the cache. We have directions on adding an exclusion for the sitemap files to your cache plugin at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/exclude-sitemaps-from-cache/#w3tc.

Once this has been done, please clear the site caching and resubmit the sitemap.

    Do keep us updated.

How do I exclude the sitemap? Just add the sitemap url to the exclude section at Siteground Cache?

I did re index the image link which you did send, and what can I do with the second error? Also did add the sitemap at the Siteground Cache Exclusion. How long does it take till I can see if it helped?

@nvest Thanks for your reply. We’ve identified several concerns in your message and responded to each below:

How do I exclude the sitemap? Just add the sitemap url to the exclude section at Siteground Cache?

If the sitemap is being cached by a plugin we have directions on how to add an exclusion for the sitemap files to your cache plugin at the following link: https://yoast.com/help/exclude-sitemaps-from-cache/

If you are still experiencing an issue with the sitemap not updating after checking your caching settings, you can also force a cache reset by temporarily disabling the sitemap feature, and then re-enabling it. To do so please perform the following steps:

In order to disable and then re-enable sitemaps in the Yoast plugin, you would need to perform the following actions:

? In WordPress go to Yoast SEO>General>Features
? Toggle the ‘XML Sitemaps’ option to ‘Off’
      ? Click ‘Save Changes’
? Toggle the ‘XML Sitemaps’ option to ‘On’
      ? Click ‘Save Changes’

We also have a guide on how to enable and disable XML Sitemaps here: https://yoast.com/help/xml-sitemaps-in-the-wordpress-seo-plugin/

I did re index the image link which you did send, and what can I do with the second error?

The second error you received was in reference to Line 259, which as you can see if you view the source of your page-sitemap.xml file, does not exist (see image here).

How long does it take till I can see if it helped?

We would recommend to try removing and resubmitting the sitemap in Google Search Console. Unfortunately we can’t say exactly how long Google will take to crawl the sitemap after submitting.

I made a different photo instead of the one with the error. But does deleting the sitemap and adding it again not disrupt the indexing process? If I am right the new sitemap would soon be indexed because I did upload it more or less a week ago. If I now delete that sitemap and add a newer one what will happen then?

    (@nvest)

Did delete the sitemaps, turned off the XML sitemap at Yoast, cleared the caches, did it on again, uploaded the sitemap by Search Console again and then it directly showed the sitemap as the one I deleted still with the two errors. What can I do now? Also did delete some parts like https://www.ongresso-energy.com/fusion_tb_category-sitemap.xml but they are still in there. Will this be deleted automaticly after a while?

    Hello @nvest

Thanks for following up with us.

Since it’s been some time since you resubmitted the sitemap, can you share the latest screenshot of the error you got from the Google Search Console?

Also, you mentioned that https://www.ongresso-energy.com/fusion_tb_category-sitemap.xml is still there. Well, I checked your sitemap index, and you only have the page sitemap. See screenshot. You may consider clearing your browser cache to see the latest information in your sitemap.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Maybellyne,

Yes it has been changed, the categories etc are gone now it only shows the page sitemap. It now also shows they are getting indexed.

Only what do I need to do with the pages in the underneath screenshot? Because it still shows many old pages from the old website. Do I need to remove these links by hand at the removal part?

And the two errors are still there after last read, even after changing the photo link which you did send to me.

Hi Maybellyne, the pages are now getting indexted if I am right, but the two errors do stay. What is a possible solution? Because I already replaced the image with a new version.

    @nvest Thanks for your reply.

Regarding the errors, we reviewed these again and still we aren’t seeing any issues with the <image:loc> URL on Line 215 as the image specified (https://www.ongresso-energy.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/hydrogen-energy-storage-gas-tank-meadow-environment-e1664460614775.jpg) loads for us without any issues.

In addition, if the error related to Line 259 is still being reported, this is certainly erroneous, as Line 259 does not even exist in the page-sitemap.xml file as it’s last line is Line 254.

Unfortunately, if the suggestions we’ve given are still not resolving those issue, at this point the best advice we can recommend is to contact Google Search Console’s support directly about this issue. You can create your own thread about this warning and receive assistance on resolving it by creating a post on the Google Search Console support forum at: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/new?hl=en
