I read the KB article here: https://kb.theseoframework.com/kb/translation-plugin-compatibility/ and am following up on a separate thread about a similar topic.

We run a real estate listing site with a custom post type called Properties.

In WPML we set this post type to ‘Translatable – use translation if available or fallback to default language’. So the posts are translatable, but users will see non-translated post content in a translated UI. This is useful for posts that aren’t fully translated yet, but still lets users understand the post.

The problem is that the English post URLs are still showing up in non-English sitemaps, so they are duplicated. Ideally we’d like only Property posts with the /ja/ directory in the URL to be in the Japanese sitemap.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello again!

I think I understand the issue, and I’ve escalated it to a GitHub issue: https://github.com/sybrew/the-seo-framework/issues/530.

I still need to investigate the cause further and look for a resolution–it’s why “requires testing” is tagged. If you believe I’ve missed critical details, please let me know (either here or on GitHub)!

Unfortunately, I do not have a workaround for you in the meantime–however, I highly doubt there’d be any harm with ranking in keeping the URLs in the sitemap like that.

Thanks for the follow up Sybre. I’ll monitor this thread and the GitHub issue to track the eventual resolution.
