Sitemap won’t upload into google

Hello, I am using YOAST SEO on my WordPress site. When I try to upload my site map into Google Search Console I receive the following errors….

“Sitemap can be read, but has errors”
“Sitemap is HTML”
“Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.”

Point of context, my site map URL redirects to my homepage for some reason…
https://bscottmfg.com/sitemap_index.xml/

I have tried the extension…. ?sitemap=1
When I try that extension I get an error from Google saying…
“General HTTP error”
