I had other plugin for sitemap xml generation, but wish to switch to Yoast. What is the best way to migrate from my old custom plugin to yoast sitemap functionality ?

    Hi,

    Thanks for reaching out!

We recommend disabling the 3rd party sitemap plugin and using Yoast’s. When you do that, you will need to also delete the 3rd party sitemap and then add Yoast’s sitemaps in the Google Search Console. Switching sitemaps is not expected to hurt the SEO of your site. If you have a 3rd party XML Sitemap and Yoast SEO sitemaps on your site at the same time, you may experience unexpected behavior.

You can find XML Sitemap in your WordPress dashboard > SEO > General > Features. Scroll down to XML Sitemaps and ensure it is enabled and ‘Save Changes’. Next, click the question mark icon to reveal more options and then click ‘See the XML sitemap’. To submit the Yoast sitemap to Google and Bing, please follow the steps here:?https://kb.yoast.com/kb/submit-sitemap-search-engines/
