sitemap xml does not work any more in wpms

Hi Guys
The sitemap_index.xml in a wpms subdomain base does throw a 404. even in the default wp theme
https://subdomain.website.com/sitemap_index.xml
if try the AIO SEO plugin there is no issue.
Please advice
