Sitemaps not getting properly indexed

  • Hello,

    I have multiple queries here

    1. In the google search console the sitemap.xml shows indexed but when you click on it it shows many sitemaps either with ‘error’ or ‘could not be fetched’ https://ibb.co/Lg1txXj

    Am I missing some setting here?

    2. Can the plugin be used with rankmath site map, since it supports images? If yes, is there some setting that needs to be done, else the system throws error of 2 sitemap plugins.

  • 1. What happens if you open your own sitemap with your browser and go to the sitemap-posttype-post.2020.xml from your example? Does the sitemap load or do you get a blank page or error message there? You might need to set the “Split by” option to “Month” in your XML Sitemap settings…

    2. Do you mean the XML sitemap from Rank Math? If you activate that one, then better disable the XML Sitemap option on Settings > Reading to prevent XML sitemap confusion. Or do you mean a sitemap Page? That should pose no conflicts with the XML sitemap…
