    Test in Google:

    Algemene HTTP-fout: 404 niet gevonden
    HTTP-fout: 404

    And now??

    Hi Loek,

I’m going to divert you to slightly outside WordPress and talk about SEO ??

    Steps:

    1. Register for Webmaster Tool
    2. Verify your site and then submit the main site of your site map e.g. https://www.sportjefit.nl/sitemap_index.xml – You can test the sitemap before submitting
    3. If you’re afraid that it will not get indexed, you can submit the post and pages xml too

This way, you will tell Google bot to refer to your website sitemap and index them.

I hope this will help to solve your concern.

Great Mohd, what have I done:

The sitemap_index.xml is ok by Google Webmaster Tools. Have delivered to Goole now.

The sitemap.xml is not found by Google. What have I to do. A 301 forwarding? Or whatever. Something from sitemap.xml to sitemap_index.xml ??

Or better wait and Google find out the sitemap.xml is gone and the other is the right one, I have send to him?

You can remove the sitemap.xml since you already submit the sitemap_index.xml

That’s all you need to do.

    Txt waiting now …

**Nevermind, I Saved the Settings (which were never changed) and now the sitemap is available.

Funny, I have had the XML sitemaps enabled for quite a while, and now I’m seeing a 404 error: https://dmcantor.com/sitemap_index.xml

What could be the issue? It doesn’t seem like anything has changed, the XML sitemaps are still enabled in the plugin.

Did happen after the update, so I have read. Do upload it again.
