• I have 4.4.1 running on several websites (independent sites) and the update to polylang 1.8 broke all those site. Not a template issue; the same templates were working fine with polylang 1.7.12; and 2 of the 5 sites are using twenty-fifteen standard template. The site always and only show the default language of the browser. When clicking on the language switcher, the selected page shows up in the selected language; however, the menu (and the cookie stored in the browser) remains in the previous language. Rolled back all sites to 1.7.12 and everything is working again.

  • Same problem for me… But!!! I needed to go back to Version 1.7.11 (had probably not installed 1.7.12 before). Version 1.7.12 was also not working. When trying to activate the plugin WordPress told me that is has a fatal error and cant activate it.

    We’re using also FTP file deployment – we dont use the online updater.

    What could be the cause?

    Hi
    @cubesilence

    Probably something went wrong on your server during the update.

    Using your favorite FTP client, could you delete the whole polylang directory in wp-content/plugins? And then reinstall it as usual.

    Do *not* click on the red delete link in the plugins list table, otherwise your Polylang data may be removed.

    Please open a new topic if it doesn’t solve your issue to avoid to mix informations with @mikestp27.

    Could you update to the 1.8.1? If you are still having issues, then try to disable your other plugins one by one to see which one might be interfering.

    Still have the same problem. I just updated from 1.7.12 to 1.8.5 and the same problem happened. Also tried on a brand new setup where 1.8.5 was installed first; no previous polylang install. Even twenty-sisteen theme did not work. Rolled back to 1.7.12 and language switcher menu was there.
