• News here – if it is not just a rumour:

    https://www.boingboing.net/2005/01/04/sixapart_buying_live.html

This will give SixApart a strong user base – based on commercial and an opensource systems.

    —–

Here are the changes for the poor LJ users:

    1. LJ will get a new and confusing price structure – depending how often you blog, why you blog and how many words you use.

    2. SixApart will hardly communicate with ita€?s paying customers, unless Mena blogs about it or Anil spreads the word via comments in his fav top ten blogs he reads.

    3. You no longer can save your entries directly, but you have to a€?rebuilda€? your LJ for every post and comment.

    4. Your LJ interface will become much cooler with an options page that takes forever to scroll thru – BUT your default styles will get much uglier.

    5. SixApart will introduce a special massive multi SPAM-API to allow texan casinos and Cialis vendors to automatically comment every post you make.

    6. Every LJ user will be forced to create an additional TypeKey account to final get this product rolling for SixApart.

    7. Your pages will be served dynamically – if you can figure out in which weird way SixApart uses php and .htaccess to generate pages with SMARTY lurking in the background as well.

    8. All products and services from SixApart will be renamed to MoveTypeKeyLiveApartPad.

  • Woah, calm down there. I suppose you think the only reason anyone would defend Six Apart is if they were a stock holder.

MT is no threat to the growth of WordPress, so why has this thing got you all running scared? Why do you have to run something else down to make yourselves look better? Where’s your faith in WP?

I’m not the one attacking people for the threads they start.

    AND

I could give two s**ts from a rats a** about MT or who they purchase or how big they get. I only chimed in because I don’t like to see people getting attacked for their opinion. I’m not “running scared” from anything. I just get annoyed when I see people being self-righteous, especially when they are (eh hem) anonymous.

Well said, tparlin. Probably the worst part about this anonymous user is that he never contributes anything of use to these forums. Instead, he seems to scour these forums daily, hunting for someone to attack or insult. Sure, Mr. Anonymous, maybe you do contribute. But, since you refuse to register, we’ll never know that.

of all the stuff i’ve read on this topic, i have to say this is one was the most entertaining. i’m really glad i got the LJ monkey off my back and found WP. Being a relatively new user here i can’t even imagine using anything else BUT WP now.

I can’t imagine using LJ, and I’d love suggestions for weaning a few of my friends off it. They are by no means capable of hosting their own sites, though. ??

Point them to blogsome.com or send them over to me ??

Probably the worst thing about this macmanx user is that he makes unfounded and irrelevant personal attacks on individuals. I have of course registered, that’s why it says ‘Member’ underneath my username, and why I am able to post ?? If you took the trouble to click on that you’d see that I don’t ‘scour the forums looking for someone to attack or insult’ – in fact you won’t find any other examples of me criticising other users. It’s unfortunate the same can’t be said for you.

All I did here was question the appropriateness of crossposting anti-MT posts from a personal blog to the official WordPress support forum. I’m not quite sure why that seems to have offended so many people, but obviously MT is a very touchy subject so I will be careful never to mention it in the future ??

MT is not a touchy subject. If you look carefully at your first post, and the posts that followed, we’re having fun laughing about this. You’re the once telling us to be careful and that it doesn’t belong here. Nor am I ever the first one to launch into personal attacks. Give it a rest. I’m not going anywhere, and the only individuals I ever “attack” are holier-than-thou anonymous users who immediately start telling other users what they should and shouldn’t do, and never really manage to say anything like “thanks for the info”, or “that was funny, thanks”. Do you understand? Or, I suppose you never really know what it feels like to have your plane shot at before it even leaves the ground.

    What a weird thread.

So I cross posted one thing about MT & LJ here and on my blog. But this is a BIG event in the blogosphere. So Mr. or Ms. Ano? So it’s a bit satirical? Don’t like my humor? I am heartbroken.

And MT ain’t a touchy subject – at least for me. I still think it’s a great product. I blogged happily two years with it, still have many friends and some clients using it. Great! I even paid for my copy of 2.x …

I also was an early adopter of LJ and payed for my account as well.

    So I know both worlds.

I don’t see any flamming or MT bashing here – just some friendly laughs based on experience – and that’s why some people smiled as well …

orangeguru: what you say on your own blog about MT is entirely up to you, I just didn’t think the official wordpress site was the right place for it. Maybe you could call off the dogs now?

The urge to delete this thread is growing.
    Leave it please ?

(And don’t post to agree or disagree, just move that mouse and click another link).

I just noticed that one can no long post anonymously. Maybe some others didn’t realize this either. We have been use to random people posting and their name appears as ‘Anonymous’. So please accept our apologies if we have mistaken you someone at random.

Oh, and thanks Orangeguru. I thought it was funny and it brightened my day.

Now back to our regularly scheduled bashing of M$ for trying to conquer the world.
