  • I’m nowhere near “finished” with my site but I have the basics up and running. The design has been tested in FF 1.0, Moz 1.5, NN7, IE6 and Opera 7 and there are only a few minor differences. However, it looks best in Firefox.

    Any comments and opinions welcome. Please feel free to leave a comment on the site. I know that it’s a little sparse right now but I’m really looking for “first impressions” kind of feedback.

    The site looks really nice. I use Safari for a browser and everything looks fine except the footer on the menu is bigger than the main footer.

    Looks good in firefox

    ?? Wish I knew how to create flash

    looks great, are the tabs hardcoded into the template or are the dynamic?

    Very smooth. Some feedback …

    Typo: Your main headline and side navi are the same size and colour. Maybe you should make the main ones bigger and the side ones smaller and less important. You wanna draw attention to the main content not vica versa …

    Like the tabs.

    Layout: Proportions are nice – but like in many blogs the column width for the main text is to wide and the typo to small. It makes it hard for the eye to jump from the end of one line to find the beginning to the next. Either increase font size or decrease width.

    Search: The search area isn’t aligned nicely. Everything else is according to the layoutgrid except this stuff.

    Yeah, maybe too much of Ryan Sim’s in it? Actually the sidebar is just exactly the same. Even the header :).

    You know, I was worried about that. I found justwatchthesky.com a few weeks after I started with the design and thought … “oh crap”.

    I may just go ahead and change the whole colour scheme because I’d rather not be branded a “pirate” or whatever.

    As far as the header goes, I did it months ago and winter is winter, so ….

    It does look a lot like justwatchthesky (the colour) but if you look closer I think it’s completely original. I think it’s just the sidenav background and the comment buttons that makes a large resemblance.

    I just wanted to thank all that have commented here and at my site. I appreciate the feedback.

    I will definitely be changing the colour scheme of the site (after seeing Ryan Sims’ work) but that’s about it.I’m quite happy with the layout so that will stay the same. I’ll post back here with the “updated” version later on next week, time permitting.
