Size of media in posts

Is there a way to return to the default options for media?
When I post a thumbnail, I want it to post as a thumbnail, but right now it just takes the thumbnail and makes it as wide as the post column itself.
I would like to be able to post different sizes and have people click on images for their full size. Right now everything is blurry because I have different sized media that is getting stretch or scrunched in my posts.
