skeleton child theme does not keep any option changes

Hello

I have been installing the skeleton theme and over it the skeleton child theme – but in my last attempt none of the options I want to save in the child theme are kept. It always returns to default.

I deactivated all plugins. Reinstalled the theme again. Uploaded the files within the child theme folder as modified style.css which I have from a similar set-up – but nothing works.

Does some one please have a clue what could be the issue here?
I very much appreciate your help.
