Hello, we are trying to get SKU generated per category, and have the SKUs be in sequence. For example, SKA001 , SKA002 etc.

When selecting the take previous product into account, it doesn’t do the SKU in sequence even if we have set the last uploaded product to SKA001 the other products in the category do not follow on as SKA002.

We are not sure if it is something we are doing wrong but any help would be much appreciated.

The thing is that the “consider previous item” function works only when creating a single item. I did not include this feature in the bulk SKU generator.

However, if you think it is necessary, I can add such a feature to the plugin. This is actually a great idea as it would provide the consistency you mentioned.

Oh okay I see, we would definitely get a lot of use out of such a feature, as our some of our clients have been entering sequential SKUs manually and wants us to find a way of generating these SKUs in a sequence.

If it is possible for you to do that it would be awesome, we use your plugin on all of our stores since it is in my opinion the best one.

I plan to release an update to the plugin in the next few days. After this update, I will focus on implementing this feature and will release another update that will contain this functionality. I will try to do this as soon as possible.

I have updated the plugin, the next update will be on your idea. Except that I’m wondering how to make it better…. introduce a new setting for example dropdown list “Choose number format” and drop down a list of “01”, “001”, “0001” or easier number field to display, so that you can add any number and to it at each variation is added +1

That’s awesome thank you, I think either of your ideas will work but the option with the number field display would be more flexible. We wouldn’t need that personally, the dropdown would work for us, but I think making it more flexible would essentially allow any format of sequential SKU.

Hi Dan, I wanted to ask if there is any chance you could tell me a rough estimate of when this will be implemented? There’s no rush, I just want to give my client a timeline for his SKUs. If you’re not sure that’s fine too I just thought I’d ask, I know you’re doing us such a huge favour here and we really appreciate your effort and communication.

In a matter of days. I’ve actually already done this, just testing it out now. I’ll have time to test everything out and make an update one of these days.

    Hi @gregwilken

I have good news, I’m done.

I’m ready to make an update, but I want to clarify something with you.

Let’s say we enter 001 in the data field and when generating SKU’s we have this value incremented like this:

    SKA001
    SKA002
    SKA003
    SKA004

But what about when the data reaches “9”?

There are two options here. The first option assumes this format:

    SKA001
    …
    SKA009
    SKA0010
    SKA0011

The second option assumes this format:

    SKA001
    …
    SKA009
    SKA010
    SKA011
    Plugin Author Dan Zakirov

    (@alexodiy)

I think I’ll do two formats both ways.

    Plugin Author Dan Zakirov

    (@alexodiy)

    That’s what I did

    (@alexodiy)

It’s all set. Only the format is like this:

    SKA001
    …
    SKA009
    SKA010
    SKA011

is experimental for now, it has not been tested on a large number of products, in some cases the number may be wrong, but with time I think we will finalize it. Regarding the format 008 → 009 → 0010 → 0011 everything is working fine.

Within a few hours I will make an update of the plugin. And in the next update I plan to increase the number of iterations in processing for faster generation.

We have the exact opposite problem…
We have all the variation SKU sync with our inventory managament software and we need the SKU of variation to be UNIQUE and not changing if we add more variations.
What is happening now is that if we add a variation manually, all the SKU’s are changed in a sequence -01 -02 -03 -04 , so the variation that was -01 turns in -02 …. This is a real mess for us.

Is it possibile to avoid this?

    @enrimoizo

I have noted your problem, I will think about it. In general, I am considering many customizations of variant products.

I’ve encountered the same problem as @enrimoizo and it’s been happening for a few hours since it didn’t happen until a couple of days ago, could it be that this bug arose after the update on the sequential codes?

Basically now when I add a variation to a variable product (with already other variations) and save, all the variations change the code (extremely serious) and instead of the original SKU a sequential code is inserted for each variation.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Guys could you please explain how you are getting this error? Does the error occur during bulk generation or during product creation? To clarify the situation, I will fix it as soon as possible
