    Hello all!
Christopher here. I am trying to figure out how to setup the appropriate product data to allow for appropriate SKU building on the backside. Here is what I am attempting to do:

Master SKU: O-PFB (Outlier-Precision Fit Barrel)

Variants are added for the different types such as:

    Length | Chamber | Twist | Action | Finish

Upon a consumer choosing one of these barrels and then selecting the choices (see link), I want this added to the SKU. So the final SKU would come out something like this:

    Length – 16 inches – SKU: L16

    Chamber – 243 Win – SKU: 243WIN

    Twist – 1 – 8 Twist – SKU: 8TW

    Action – Remington 700 – SKU: REM700

Finish – Stainless Steel with 5 Deep Flutes – SKU: ST5DF

    Resulting in: O-PFB-L16-243WIN-8TW-REM700-ST5DF

What I am trying to get at is having one master SKU that allows building of additional SKU’s due to variations. Because there are so many choices in my products, I don’t want to have to build a separate SKU for each product.

    Any ideas?
Thank you so much for your time in reading this.

  • Hey there, Christopher! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

When you create the variations on your website, you would be able to set their SKU to be the way you mentioned, but from what I understand you want a way of doing this automatically, correct?

You might want to check the plugin Bulk Table Editor, as it might help you with this. You can automatically generate SKUs or edit them in bulk.

You can also search for “woocommerce sku generator“, or something similar, on the Plugins > Add New section of your dashboard or on a search engine like Google, for example.

Please note that we do not provide support for third-party plugins, so it is good to check the plugin thoroughly to see if it is reliable. You can find more about this in this guide.

If you are interested in knowing more about how to achieve your goal manually, let us know and we can share more information on it.

I hope this was clarifying. If you face any issues or have any questions, please let us know so we can assist you further.

    Have a wonderful day!
