SlickQuiz inserting code in htaccess file

Will the SQL injection fix solve a problem where the plugin injects stray code into htaccess?
I’ve been using this plugin for months and have had constant problems with the plugin injecting random stray code into my htaccess file. I have confirmed and reconfirmed this with my server errors logs repeatedly; it is definitely being caused by this plugin.
When it happens it takes my entire site down, obviously, and sometimes I don’t notice right away. I have thought about removing this plugin repeatedly, but the quiz it runs is our #4 most heavily trafficked page so I can’t. Yesterday I deactivated the plugin and began work to manually create a quiz but with far less functionality.
Now I see there has been an update to address the SQL injection, and I am wondering if this fixes my issue. If not I will need to delete the plugin as I can’t have it taking my entire site down a few times a week.
