    Hi,

I have a problem with MetaSlider that I was unable to solve on my own despite my research.

This problem concerns the speed between slides. I have specified the following settings:

    • Slide delay: 1000 ms
    • Animation speed: 2000 ms

The rendering is very good on desktop but on mobile, the slideshow is much too fast, as if the slide delay was devided by two or more.

If I increase the delay between slides (3000 ms), the rendering is good on mobile but the animation is then too slow on computer.

The problem concerns all the slideshows on the site and I don’t see any improvement when I modify the other parameters of a slideshow.

Do you know what the problem is and how I could fix it?

Thank you very much for your help.

  • Hi,

I can see it happening. Can you try disabling WP Rocket and see if there is any difference?

    Thanks for your responsiveness.

I had already tried to deactivate WP Rocket but hadn’t noticed any change.

I just deactivated it again anyway.

Yeah I still see it happening. Can you put the slideshow on a test page with nothing else on it?

How about the preview on settings page? Same issue?

I have just integrated a slideshow on a test page: https://www.lesmelodys.com/test-diaporama

On mobile, when I click on “Preview” from MetaSlider or on “Preview Changes” from the test page, the slideshow always scrolls too fast.

It could be a bug with FlexSlider. If you make a slideshow with just a few slides, does it still happen?

Basically we just need to find a state where it’s working, then add back items until it’s broken again. Then we can figure out why.

Are you able to disable all other plugins for a minute and check?

    Thread Starter Juliette L.

    (@digiju)

I created a slideshow with only three slides. No improvement on mobile.

I disabled all plugins for a minute: unfortunately, the slideshow is still much too fast on mobile.

    Hi,

Can you share a screenshot of all the settings? I’ll try to replicate them and see if I get the same results. It’s not easy to debug with WP Rocket on as well.

If I can’t reproduce it, you will have to switch from FlexSlider to using a different slideshow library and these is something specific to your theme, server, something that is conflicting.

    Hi,

I added screenshots on the test page : https://www.lesmelodys.com/test-diaporama

    I disable WP Rocket again.

    Hi,

I can’t reproduce the issue. If you change some of the settings is there an unexpected difference? For example, if you double the timing, does it still run at 2x speed on mobile?

    Hi,

Here are the results of my empirical study!

    Slide delay set to :
    – 5000 ms = same speed on mobile and pc
    – 3000 ms = more or less the same speed
    – 2000 ms or less = about twice as fast on mobile than on desktop

As the speed seems to be impossible to harmonize for a slide delay of 2000 ms or less, I guess I am forced to choose between a slower than expected slideshow on computer or a faster than expected slideshow on mobile?

I just found out that there might be a problem with the “Fade” effect, because if I select the last effect in the list (which might be called “scrolling” but I have the French version of the plugin, so I’m not sure of my translation, sorry) the speed is the same on mobile and on desktop.

    Hi,

I think the “slide delay” needs to be higher than the “animation speed” for it to work, right?

That makes sense anyway because it would be trying to move to the next slide before the animation has time to finish.

If the animation takes 2 seconds to complete the delay should also be 2 seconds. Probably more like 3-4 seconds though so the user has time to see it without motion.

When I had set “slide delay” higher than “animation speed”, I still noticed a faster image change on mobile than on desktop.

Having said that, I’ve just done a new series of tests and I think I’ve found a good compromise to have a correct and almost equivalent speed on both terminals.

Thank you very much for your help, patience and reactivity.
