Slider as background image in header – how to?

  • I’m trying to put in a slider as a background image for only the header of my site. Just a simple slideshow of predefined images. (The header image is partly transparent, the slider will show through. So only a 960 x 300 slider, not a full width background.)

    Can’t find a way to get the slider in there though, as all sliders now seem to use shortcodes and I can’t figure out how to put that in header.php so it works…
    I’ve tried various sliders but to no avail.
    Does anyone have any tips? Which slider works best for this and how to get it in the header?
    The theme I’m using is a child theme of Responsive.
