Slider gallery plugin

MLA works well with many gallery, slideshow and lightbox plugins but does not work at all with others. For example, Justified Image Grid works very well and NextGEN Gallery – WordPress Gallery Plugin doesn’t work at all. MLA is designed to be as “WordPress like” as possible. Many gallery plugins have gone their own way and provide an all or nothing solution.

Can you recommend a slideshow plugin to play with mla gallery?

I have checked out Justified Image Grid it looks fine but I think it does thumbnail galleries. Photonic has a slideshow setting but it is not the strength of that plugin as its author says:

are you using Photonic just for slideshows on a native WP gallery? If so, there may be more specialized plugins for the job. Photonic’s power is in all the other layouts (justified grid, mosaic etc.) and lightboxes and in dealing with multiple providers (Flickr, Google etc.) – while it does the job for simple WP slideshows, using it for this purpose is akin to buying a Ferrari to pick up groceries from the store down the street.

I’m just looking for the single image on the page look with the forward and back arrows to go through the media set. And to pull the WP media library caption, description, title etc into each image. Any other snazzy features would be nice but that’s the main thing I am after. It is to compliment a separate MLA thumbnail gallery that’s shown earlier on the page
