• I just noticed that the Slider images that used to appear on my website’s home page are missing. There is a blank space on the home page where the slider images ought to appear. I can’t think of any recent changes that would have caused this.

Here is the link to the home page:
    https://decisionpatterns.com/

I tried deactivating all my plugins and reloading the home page, but the problem is still there. I have reactivated the plugins.

When I edit the home page, I can see that the “Enable Slider” box is checked.

I’m not the person who originally set up the Slider images (and that person can’t be contacted), so I don’t know if they are set up properly. Here is a screenshot of what I’m seeing when I edit a Slider image:

Thank you in advance for your help!

    You have a jquery error:

Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: a[href=#top]

update all your plugins and theme.

Thank you for your response! My themes and plugins are all up to date. Can you tell me more about how to deal with this error?

When I go to Theme options, I see the following:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/p3nexnas05_data03/34/2087734/html/wp-content/themes/reactive1.2.5/admin/options-sanitize.php on line 318

    Could this be the problem?

    Thanks again.

I would check with your theme’s support forum for that. Unfortunately, it seems that your theme hasn’t been updated since 2014!

Themes sold on envato include support.

Thank you, and please pardon my ignorance. Can you help me figure out where to find a support forum for my theme? It seems like it was customized for my company, since it’s called “DecisionPatterns.” I don’t know how to tell what theme it really is under the hood, so to speak. I do see that it says it’s “By ThemeShapers,” so I emailed a company called Automattic that seems to be associated with that name.

Sorry for the probably silly question. Our website was built when I was on maternity leave, and now I’m trying to pick up the pieces. Thanks again.

Can you find the person who built your site?

The person who built our site doesn’t do web design work anymore.

When I check for updates from my Dashboard it says my themes are all up to date, but on the website for my theme (https://themeforest.net/item/reactive/3262385) I found a more recent version. We have Reactive 1.2.5, and there is a version 1.2.7, but when I tried to install it I got the following error message:

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

    Theme install failed.

Is that just the end of the road for this theme? It does seem to be the source of the Slider problem. The theme isn’t supported and hasn’t been updated since Oct 2014. Sounds like it’s time to just shop for a new theme, right?

    Thanks again.

You didn’t read the FAQ on every themeforest theme:

Missing style sheet error when installing the theme
A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly. Luckily, there is a very easy fix.

I see. I got the new version installed, but the slider still doesn’t work so I reverted back to the old version of the theme and turned off the slider. I think we’ll just look for a theme that will be updated and supported.

    Hi amb1979
Another altenative would be to load an older version of jQuery in order to do a quick work-around for this. WP 4.5 comes with the latest version, try rolling one back. It should do the trick.

And what happens on the next WordPress update?

    Not a good idea.
