I am using this theme on my site and the slider shows only one image but has two overlapping story title/descriptions. How do I fix this?
Also is there a way to only show a couple of the recent posts below the slider, not all of them?

I don’t know why your widgets disappeared. Have you tried visiting Appearance > Widgets and checking to see the widgets are in place?

I don’t know why the ‘Coming Soon’ message is there, it isn’t powered by the theme. It sounds like one of those Coming Soon plugins?

I did go to Appearance>Widgets and those three widgets I used are gone. Even from the section where you can select them to drag over.
Now I noticed that my “sharing” menu under “settings” is gone. Where did it go? Should I reinstall the latest version of WordPress?

    What am I missing?

I don’t know I’m sorry, it’s not theme related. The Sharing menu under settings sounds like it would be related to a plugin. Are you sure you reactivated them all? Perhaps you need to activate Jetpack?

What does Jetpack do exactly? Does it just allow me access to features from my WordPress.com site to use on my www.ads-software.com site?

Jetpack adds a bunch of functionality some of which requires a WordPress.com account (eg. analytics).

    It worked, thanks!

Wait, I know which plugin it was. Jetpack is messing up the slider! What can I do?

    Theme Author Phillip

    (@wpsimplyread)

Hmm, I’ll take a look and see if I can figure out where the clash is, but I can’t promise an immediate fix or update sorry. The only solution in the immediate future is to use another theme or not use Jetpack.

Can you tell me which features of Jetpack you were using?

I installed and reinstalled and uninstalled Jetpack a couple times. The slider worked for a while with Jetpack installed and then it stopped. I’m deactivating a number of features hoping one will allow the slider to work. Is there one that could be affecting it?

I can’t say, I’ll be going through the same process as you are to try and identify the problematic one. What Jetpack features have you been using?

    Thread Starter toniavery

    (@toniavery)

    I’m using:
    Carousel
    Enhanced Distro
    JSON API
    Jetpack Comments
    Likes
    Mobile Theme Monitor
    Notifications
    Omni Search
    Post by E-mail
    Publicize
    Sharing
    Shortcode Embeds
    Site Icon
    Site Verification
    Spelling & Grammar
    Subscriptions
    Video press
    WP.me shortlinks
    Widget visibility
    WP stats

Should any of these affect the slider?

    Theme Author Phillip

    (@wpsimplyread)

The Carousel feature seems the most likely offender. Have you tried disabling that?

    Thread Starter toniavery

    (@toniavery)

Just did and it didn’t make a difference. I don’t know what else to do

    (@wpsimplyread)

Until such time as I can work this out the only option maybe to disable Jetpack completely or use another theme. I know that’s not what you want to hear I just can’t promise to figure this out immediately.

Any chance you know how to get the master slider to show on my front page?

I had a site semi-under construction and changed the theme. I’m thinking that must have something to do with it. I can not edit the default front page.
