• Slideshare absolutely refuses to work on WordPress desktop no matter how I embed the link.

If I use the regular embed link from Slideshare it works in the WordPress preview, but not in the final updated site on either FireFox or Chrome — All I get is a white box. (It doesn’t work on Chrome mobile either, but instead of a white box I get the slide show image, but it can’t be viewed or opened.)

If I use the wordpress shortcode, I get the image from the slideshow on both Chrome and FireFox, but you can’t actually view the slides or open the slideshow on a desktop. (It DOES function correctly on mobile using the wordpress shortcode.) And, again, it works fine in preview.

I suspect this is a WordPress issue, rather than a Slideshare issue because it works in preview, but not on the live page. I also suspect this because I have a similar issue with Google maps, which work on the site but CANNOT be viewed by me if I’m logged into WordPress.

And I’m posting this here, because it is just about impossible to find a place to post a request for help on this site.

Moved to Fixing WordPress, this is not a Requests and Feedback topic.

    What plugin are you using?

I’m not using one. I am trying to embed the code into the post as with Tube or Google Maps. Among others, used the directions here https://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshare/ (this is a little out of date) and here https://www.linkedin.com/help/slideshare/answer/65314?query=wordpress

I thought it was working when I first did it a few weeks or a month ago, but I might not have actually tested it in the final page since the preview was working.

UPDATE:It’s now working if I go in incognito. (I had to change some updated settings in Chrome to make it viewable, but it just opened up like it should in Chrome without any changes there.)

I still can’t see it on the site if I’m logged into WordPress. Google Maps is doing the exact same thing and now I see that an embedded link to a podcast is also doing this.

This page is a good example https://explorationvacation.net/itineraries/vietnam-2015-itinerary/ If I’m viewing it while logged into WordPress I see a grey outline of a box with a white interior where the slideshare should be, blank white space where the podcast should be, and a big blank white space where the map should be.

YouTube Videos are working fine and have been all the time.

I am running Rocket on my site, but this problem (not being able to see the embedded Google Maps, etc. was showing up even WITHOUT any of the optimization features turned on and I did talk to Rocket and they weren’t coming up with a reason it would do this. Right now I have minify html, combine google font files, remove query strings from static resources, minify CSS, optimize CSS, and deferred javascript loading active – I am NOT using minify javaScript or combine JavaScript, since those seemed to have known Google Maps issues.

It just seems really odd that there are things I can’t see if WordPress recognizes me, but that are visible to the public. And it makes it hard to edit and update, which I do regularly.
