Ok, I’ve tried every combination of settings and perused the documentation but can’t seem to figure this out. I want to display a gallery as thumbnails and allow the user click one to start a fullscreen slideshow that is user controlled, ie click for the next or previous image. I saw an example on a page describing shortcodes that also displayed a horizontal bar of thumbnails along the bottom. When I tried the shortcode there was no navigation bar or thumbnails displayed.

I’m using NextGen 1.7 in WP 3.3 with the flash plugin.

  • I’ve got the same problem. Last month, slideshow from basicthumbnails was working, and it doesn’t work anymore…Don’t know if it’s since the last patch. I’ve tried everything. It only opens a new window with fullscreen picture.

@dcrosby – I would recommend first updating to the latest stable release of WordPress (not that I expect it to sort anything out but it is still a good thing to do).

The Lightbox Effect with a full image, navigation arrows, and thumbnails along the bottom is from our NextGEN Pro Lightbox effect which is available with our NextGEN Pro plugin.

Please feel free to read more about it here: https://nextgen-gallery.com/

    Thanks!

    Hi Cais,
    thanks for the fast response.

Unfortunately, it solves nothing, all my plugins are up-to-date.
About the plugin itself: I added a few CSS lines (in style > insert custom CSS) to remove borders from original basic-thumbnails gallery, but that’s all.

The theme I use is Atahualpa, but it never causes problems before:

@dcrosby What you described is possible enabling Piclens, if you’re talking about the free-basic Nextgen plugin.
It’s also possible that what you saw was a carousel template.

@thomasfrick Open your own topic describing your problem, yours has nothing to do with this topic (and the answer above was for the user who opened this topic).

@thomasfrick – It is almost always recommended to start a new topic for your specific issue … or issues as the case may be.

Your issue(s) appear to be most likely quite different as @dcrosby did not reference a particular theme as you are now referencing.

We would be happy to help, but please start a new topic and/or submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) with your site specifics so the two different issues at hand do not get confused.

    Thanks!

Thanks all. I didn’t realize that some of the effects I saw in the documentation was for the Pro version only. I was able to get the basic lightbox working on the free version. I ended up turning it off though and using the free plugin Lightbox plus Colorbox. It doesn’t give me the same effect as described above but does give me more options. I was hoping to avoid adding another plugin. I’ll take a look at Piclens as well.

@dcrosby – Let us know if there is anything else we can help with!

Thanks for responding with your feedback and observations … we do apologize for the documentation not clearly defining the Pro features on the page you were reading.
