Slideshow on my homepage

I have the responsive theme. I am trying to get a slideshow on the right side of my homepage in the featured content section. I have installed the meteor slideshow plugin, pasted the short code and cannot get it to work. Like everything else with WordPress, I spend hours trying to figure it out, only to get pissed off.

I know nothing about code…I’m a chef trying to design a website! I’m not computer illiterate either. I have read so many posts about all of this and nothing seems to help.

Please help me get this going.
