Slideshows stopped working after WP Updates

  • I updated WP to 4.1
    I updated NextGen Gallery to 2.0.66.37

    Now all my NextGen widget slideshows just spin and spin.

    All my galleries do not go to slideshow. One image opens up and stays:Shine’s Gallery

    I tried installing other slideshow plugins such as Wonder Plugin Slider, oQey Gallery, Simple Slideshow Manager.. I can’t get any of them to work. Images just spin or don’t show at all.

    I tried them in Firefox and Safari (not Chrome, yet)

    I don’t have any CACHE plugin installed.

    This is a site I did for a client and I’m looking (and feeling) pretty stupid right now.

    Was the WP update not compatible with my template?

    Since posting this problem yesterday, I have had my host restored the previous database from my backup but unfortunately, that only wiped out a lot of my entries and did not take WP back to the previous version or take NextGen back to a previous version so still have problem.

    One thing it did fix was if you go to the photo galleries it will show the images in a slideshow where you can scroll thru the gallery so that is progress.

    Can’t get any slideshow to work in widgets.

    @braven1612 – I would suggest ensuring everything you are using is up-to-date … and you might try the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options to see if that helps to sort out the issues you are still seeing.

    Thanks for the help, Cais! Grateful to have someone out there with solutions!

    Unfortnately, I belive it is the outdated Theme I’m using. I’ve tried everything else and then I installed this same theme on another site of mine and the slideshows in the sidebar stopped working there.

    SO, I gave up. I created some of my own slideshows in Swish and put them in the sidebar.

    And, I will never update another WP version on this site again. This site has been running for this client a long time and I can’t risk it.

    @braven1612 – Not updating WordPress does run some security risks, at a minimum … you might look at updating the theme if possible if you believe it to be at the root of the issue(s) you are seeing.
