• I’ve done a search on this forum about archiving posts, but none address specifically what I’m looking for.

I don’t know where, but somehow I got it in my head that by default once you enter a new month, the previous month’s posts were archived to that month’s page. So if you wanted to view “January’s” post while in February, you click on the “January” link in the “Archives” category.

Evidently, there’s more to it than that. I’m not looking to make a backup (I can do that already), I just don’t want to have a huge index page with all my posts.

    Can anyone help?

  • Well, first off… it’s all in the database, so there isn’t an archives page specifically. Secondly, there are options that you can set to control what’s on the front page. Once it falls off of the front page it’s “archived” – which isn’t techinally correct, it’s simply just not displayed on the fron page any more. To get to it, you cna go through either the category it belongs to, or by navigating through the years/months/days archives.

What are those options to have them drop off the front page?

    bounce…

If you are using 1.2.X… open your admin screen, click “Option” then “Reading”….

    Thanks TechGnome!

The thing to know is that when you post, that post is shown temporarily on the home page. It also ALWAYS has its own permanent page, and is displayed on the month and category pages as well.
