• Hello,

I know it has been an issue for many of us for a while, but I do not really know, why it hasn’t been targeted at all yet, as I keep waiting for this to happen:

The core is bloated with many functions which have to be manually turned off by editing functions.php – I know, some of them are part of being a blog, but most of them are never needed, so perhaps it would be a good idea to have an opt-in button somewhere in the backend than to manually turn them off:

wlwmanifest, xmlrpc, emoji,
Link: “<https://www.example.com/wp-json/>; rel=”https://api.w.org/””

<link rel=”alternate” type=”application/json+oembed”…
<link rel=”alternate” type=”text/xml+oembed”
<meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 4.5.2″

Slimming down the core will eventually make it faster to load. It will lessen the internal function calls and therefore raise SEO value, since the page is loaded faster.
