    Camu,

Hi there, hope everything is going well for you. I wanted to see if you could help me out again. The only SlimStat tabs that are working for me since the update are the Add-Ons and Settings tabs. The Right Now, Overview, Visitors, Content, Traffic Sources and World Map tabs all bring back a 500 Internal Server Error after about 5 minutes of trying to load. The Content tab tries to load and will load about half it’s page, but then cuts out to another error that says the compression type is not supported.
SlimStat was working perfectly for me 2 updates back, and the last update has slowed it down dramatically, but it still worked every now and then. Then the update to 3.4.3 caused the 500 internal server issues now.
Here’s my site if it helps https://www.grocerycomping.com and I use GoDaddy for my hosting. If you need any other info please do let me know!
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for your time and an awesome plugin!!
    James.

    Hi James,

it seems like you’re hitting your PHP memory limit. Check the FAQs for more information on how to fix this issue.

    Camu,

I checked out the FAQs page and I think I found what you were mentioning. I’m an extreme novice when it comes to most of all this coding stuff, so I wanted to ask is there a less ‘technical’ step-by-step explanation of how to implement the changes for increasing the memory allocated to PHP? For a novice like myself, some of the steps and terms used to explain the editing of code make me feel so stupid as I don’t understand them. ‘Yes, I know I need to learn A LOT more’…

I also see where you mentioned that some hosts set this limit to 8MB. I will be calling my host shortly to see if this is the problem and if it is, if they would raise the limit.

Thank you so much for all your time and assistance!!

    Camu,

Hi there. I wanted to update you on the status of my situation so far. I do apologize for the lateness though.

I got my hosting service (GoDaddy) to intall the php5.ini file. I changed the php memory setting from 64MB to 96MB and the SlimStat plugin started to work, but it was a hit-and-miss type situation. One minute it would work, the next it wouldn’t. Last night I deleted all the page views from the database using the button in the maintenance tab. After I deleted this information the plugin works with no issues at all now. So I’m assuming there was just too much information it was trying to access at one time which was causing the misconfiguration error.

What I am wondering now is, should I change the php memory size up another notch to help avoid this issue in the future. If you think this would be recommended, please let me know what would be a recommended size to move it up to.

    Thanks for an AWESOME plugin!!
    James.
(PS. I’m loving the new overview page too! I haven’t seen it in over a month now and with the new updates, 2 thumbs up!!!)

    James,

it depends on how many plugins you have installed on your site, and how much memory they use. If your slimstat tables are fairly large (see SlimStat > Settings > Maintenance) it takes more memory to generate the reports. We’re working on an update that should greatly mitigate this issue, by running multiple SQL queries to retrieve the data, instead of one single request to grab ALL the data at once, which tends to use large amounts of memory. This will be added to v3.5.3.

    Thanks,
    Camu

I stand corrected. We were able to add the new code to version 3.5.2. You should notice the difference as soon as you upgrade ??
