Slow as Molasses/Freezes Browser

    I’ve been using CodeMirror for several years and love it! But recently (latest version of WP) it’s been acting oddly: as soon as I edit the language setting or the style setting of any CodeMirror block the entire browser gets very, very sluggish. Trying to scroll down the language options, for example, result in the UI freezing (not just the browser tab I’m working in; the entire browser goes into “intense processing lockup”).

    This is under Windows 10, latest patches, using Microsoft Edge, latest update.

    Any idea what’s going on? Has anyone else reported something similar? Is this an interaction with some other plugins?

    Thank you for your observation.

    Can you provide more feedback, what happen in other browser? like Firefox, Chrome etc…

    Sorry about the delay in replying. The problem exists with at least one other syntax highlighter, too, so it’s not unique to CodeMirror (and may be caused by something else).

    I found a workaround: periodically hit ctrl-F5 to reload the entire page, including the file downloads. That fixes the problem, although only temporarily.
