Slow loading

  • Quick question and any advice/recommendations would greatly be appreciated. I am using a well known theme that I always update and I only use 3 very well known plugins on my site. However, since I created it, it takes forever to initially load. Compared to other wordpress sites (some of which are much more intricate than mine), it take a good 10 – 15 seconds on multiple machines on different connections – even my wp-admin page. I can’t seem to figure out why it does that. I use GoDaddy to host my site. Could it be that I need to upgrade anything on GoDaddy’s end? Plugins? Theme? Any recommendations or advice would greatly be appreciated.

    I’d never host a site on GoDaddy. For shared hosting, switch to HostGator or BlueHost. Your site will load much faster.

    I would then integrate with CloudFlare (it’s free). That’ll bring your load time down drastically.

    So there isn’t much I can do via my current setup? How easy is it to port the folder over? Just update everything and then just copy paste the wp folder in my root directory at the new hosting site?

    But your real url is wp.paintinggroup.com and you are forwarding it how?

    well, i changed the index.php file in my root directory. I didn’t want that to happen, but my wp folder is installed in a subdirectory. That is another issue I need to deal with in the future, however…even if you click on my link from a google search “painting group atlanta” it still takes awhile. I just installed and set up the plugin “w3 Total cache” and it has seemed to help.

    Very interesting. I didn’t even know that site existed. Unfortunately, I am not familiar on how to solve the “high” or “medium” priority requests. I am hoping w3 total cache will be able to do most of that. I did notice that a lot of the files are theme files and I don’t really wanna mess with those. Any other suggestions?

    Have you set w3 Total cache enabling the first 5 options?

    And you can use this https://csssprites.com/ for sprites.

    BTW, there are only about 90 other sites on the server so I would think the problem is not Go Daddy. My host has over a thousand sites on the server I share.

    Oh I see. I will read up and learn more about sprites. I also have enabled the following options within w3 Total Cache: 1) page cache, 2) minify, 3) database cache, 4) Object cache, 5) browser cache. Anything else I should enable or disable?

    Checking the site with the link above still shows a problem. If you have w3tc in a preview mode there is a button to “deploy” changes. Also on the menu bar under Performance, click on clear all caches.

    Ok performed both requested tasks. Let’s see if that fixed those problems? I can’t tell hehe.
