Slow Loading

You can optimize you database using a plugin such as Advanced Database Cleaner; but make a backup of your database first. For the folder tree to load it has to query the database for all the folders and then load them into the folder tree. You may have a lot of not image folders in your upload directory that were placed there by different plugins. You can hide these folders which will remove them and their files from the folder tree/media library and then you will have fewer folders to load. To do this, right click one of these folders (CTRL click on a Mac) and select ‘Hide this folder?’ This will remove the folder from the folder tree data including all its subfolders but they still will remain on the server.
