• well i just had a malware issue and have not moved over to my new host. i moved over my database and did a fresh install of wp and a few plugins i use and my theme. i now keep getting super slow loads on my pages. sometimes even timing out. i also get spikes in cpu usage as well as sudden php process spikes. never had this issue with my last host not sure if it is my host (godaddy) limiting my usage or if this is still remnant of the malware? i have run several scans and plugins and none fine malware on my site. any ideas on what may be up?

  • Firstly, try https://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/eXfOh/
It will tell you exactly loading time of your site – ruling out any broadband issues.

Finally, GoDaddy have a bit of a reputation for being slow.

    So I’m told.

one request for a 4xx or 5xx response or could not be loaded

It’s actually very slow. Standard fresh WordPress install using loads within about 2-3 seconds. Would you mind providing a link for your site so I get check the report myself?

i am getting slow internet where i am but not sure its that slow

I’ve just tested your site, and it loads in 3.03 seconds – a great time.

If it is sometimes fast, and sometimes slow, it can really only be the server.

yes i just got 3 seconds but at times it really bogs down how do i address this with godaddy? they blame it on me.

It is possibly a server overload – that’s a server issue, GoDaddy is responsible for making sure that all their servers are fast and stable. It sounds like that’s the issue. I have unfortunately heard this about GoDaddy before.

when i go into my admin info it shows it at max on my cpu usage not sure why it would sporadically jump and then the php processes go up. not sure what it could be i am at a loss..

Well, I certainly never considered the CPU usage – never had any problem with that.

You might have long running IMAP processes. Easiest solution would be to contact your host again and get them to investigate the readings (if they’re willing to help). Do you have a lot of email or cache processes running on WordPress or in your GoDaddy Cpanel?

sorry im not much of a techie on this stuff still learning can you define further
    imap processes
    email/cashe processes?
i only have one plugin running and my theme and a few emails forwards

If you are unsure it’s best just to get in touch with GoDaddy and ask them to investigate why your CPU usage is so high. I believe they have a live chat option to speak to an advisor. I recommend giving that a try.

Have you tried to run a plugin like Wordforce to make sure that no more malware is installed in your wordpress account? If there is any malware left, then it may be trying to send information to whoever created that malware. A constant connection like that might possibly run up a high CPU reading.

yeah tried tech support not much help they are not willing to dig further just to saw i need to buy an upgrade to handle the cpu processes.

i have run anti-malware and wordfence, both show clear. not really sure what else to do on my end. i have also updated everything wp, theme plugin etc.

    Wow, what “customer service”!

Would you be willing it let me know what hosting package you got with them? I just want to check the specs so that I can see if you should be in the situation of needing an upgrade.

Also, if you check the size of the wp-content folder, how big is it?

    wp content 4kb
resource level 3 plan of their cpanel hosting
