Slow site and slow dashboard

  • Can somebody help me troubleshoot my wordpress site? Not only is my website very slow to load but the dashboard is as well. I’ve tried to optimize it as best I could but I’m clearly a novice.

    How do I tell if my host is the cause?
    How do I tell if my plugins are the cause?
    Or maybe it’s my theme?

    I’m pulling out my hair!

  • All of those things can cause your site to be slow.

    I ran your site through a page speed test:

    I got a page load time of 3.45 seconds. That’s not bad.

    Check your server logs. It’s possible that you are just getting a lot of visits to your page. If you’re on shared hosting, then it’s probably time to upgrade to a VPS. If you’re already on a VPS, you may need to allocate more memory.

    Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my question.

    I thought it might be time to upgrade to a VPS although my host (omnis.com) seemed to think I shouldn’t need to.

    I’ll investigate the VPS and check out how much memory I have allocated (not exactly sure how to do that but I’ll google it).

    it might just be your plugins, if you’re using a whole bunch it can definitely slow down your site. are you using a caching plugin?
