    Hi,

For some considerable time now the admin backend of my site https://www.takinginthesights.com has been extremely slow in saving updates to posts and previewing changes. To the extent that it sometimes never saves and appears to hang. Refreshing the page means I lose changes made. I seem to be getting the following error message which I understand may be a contriburing factor. Any help would be welcome.

?v=2.0:6 WebSocket connection to ‘wss://public-api.wordpress.com/pinghub/wpcom/me/newest-note-data’ failed: Error during WebSocket handshake: Unexpected response code: 403

I’m not seeing anything that would outright cause this.

Are you running through any security reverse-proxies, like Cloudflare or Sucuri, or using server-side security, like mod_security?

    Hi,

Thanks for the response. I’m not using Cloudfare or Sucuri. My host is Bluehost and as far as I am aware there is nothing at their side that is causing any problem (at least that is what they are telling me).
I’m pretty sure it isonly a backend issue. Although when checking, page load speeds can vary considerably.

Is there any improvement after upgrading to Jetpack 7.5?

    James,

So far it has not hung completely, although is still really slow.

James, Just a thught, what would be a reasonable time to save a draft post?

The time it takes to save a draft depends entirely on your server resources. Some of my sites take less than a second, others take a minute.

    How long are you seeing?

James, it varies significantly, but typically from 25 seconds up to 2 minutes, providing it doesnt hang with the timer spinning endlessly.

Ah ok, yeah I’d say that’s normal for a shared hosting environment.

Basically, you’re sharing the same server resources with thousands of other sites, so at peak times, everything could be a bit slower.
