Slow site – stopforumspam API issues?

    I’ve had a site with your plugin on that’s been really slow. I used query monitor to track it down to the stopforumspam API taking nearly 30s to respond.

    Is this normal/expected?

    Was stopforumspam enabled by default in a recent update?

    Is it possible that this is slowing down more of my sites that I use your plugin on? Will I need to go and disable this feature on all of them? Is the speed of this API a known problem?

    v5 was just released with more control over the 3rd-party API like Stop Forum Spam to prevent performance issues when those APIs take too long to respond. v5 includes massive performance enhancements and should work better for you now.
