Slow text editor, need an alternative

Is there a way to edit a post/page content using other text editors from my local machine, like Notepad++ for example? perhaps using FTP?

I am experiencing a latency in text editor mode in my self-hosted site in which I use WordPress. The problem happens only when editing pages and posts that have large amounts of text and/or HTML code. I use text editor mode only,not the visual mode, and from the searches that I have been doing on this support site, I concluded that the issue is almost definitely caused by large text (I edit pages with 30000+ word counts.)

So, is there a faster alternative to the normal text editor of WordPress?
