    Dear Yoast,

    Hope all is well.

Do you also have the feature of changing slug in the free version without leading to an error page?

I have not received the confirmation message when I change slug either in quick edit on my edit post page in the free version. And then I checked the page with changed slug. It was ok. So I am not sure if others will see error page when they check it.

    Could you help me?

    Thanks.

@artstone12 The premium version of Yoast SEO include’s a redirect manager that will automatically create a redirect when a page’s URL changes and we have more information on this here: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/redirects-manager/. It’s beneficial to create a redirect if you change a page’s URL.

    Hi Suwash,

    Thanks for your reply.

My question is if I use the free version, will my page lead to an error page when I change the slug of published posts?

If so, is there anything I could do to fix this?

    Thanks.

@artstone12 If you alter the slug of a page, the old slug will result in a 404 error.

If you are using the free version of Yoast SEO, we’d recommend creating a redirect for the old version of the slug to direct to the new version in order to prevent any 404s. You can find a large number of other 3rd party plugins available to create redirects with in the WordPress plugin repository here.

What if I forgot what posts of slugs I have changed?

If I have never promoted the old slug, who will find the page?

@artstone12 If the old slug was never linked to on any other sites, emails, or indexed then it is unlikely that the URL would ever be visited. However, we would always recommend regularly monitoring for any reported 404s in Google Search Console to be sure.
