I copy the exact same sentence from another post, since I have the eaxct same issue :
When I view the Yoast Snippet Preview, all the slugs are blank. Any idea of what is going on ?

I did the usual check (conflict with other plugin, theme by default etc) with no luck, can’t find any culprit nor reason why it is beheaving that way (and unfortunately, I did not see from when it happened, so no way to reverse back my backup)

    Hi,

Could you confirm you are using the latest version of WordPress 5.5.1, Yoast SEO for WordPress 15.0, and the latest version of all of your other plugins and themes?

Could you please provide us with steps on how to recreate this issue where the slugs are showing as blank? Is this occurring for new posts or existing posts?

    Hi,

I confirm I’m using both latest version of WordPress and the plugin. My theme is up to date either. Hard to tell about a step by step, since I’m not sure when did the problem occur… All I can say is all the slugs are showing blank, wether it’s a new post or if I open an old one, it’s also blank by default…

    Hi,

Did this issue occur only when updating to v15.0 of Yoast SEO? Was it still working in v14.9?

With WP 5.5.1, the TwentyTwenty theme, and only Yoast SEO v15.0 enabled, I created a new post on a test site and added content and published the post. When I edited it again after a while, I was able to find that the slug field was populated in the Yoast SEO meta box.

Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

According to my own post where I previously mentioned about this issue, it happened soon after beginning of September, and according to your changelog, happened when updating to release 14.9

As per checking theme and plugins, Health Check & Troubleshooting doesn’t work anymore on my site (troubleshooting mode stay in “normal” mode) but most of all, if you read carefully my first post, I wrote this “I did the usual check (conflict with other plugin, theme by default etc) with no luck”, meaning I went through this process already !

    Hi @rely28 ,

We understand how frustrating this issue could be. We found your previous post and reviewed it again. We tried replicating the problem but unfortunately, we cannot reproduce the issue even when testing an older version of the plugin. On our testing, the slug area is automatically filled when saving a new post. When viewing an older post, the slug is kept as well.

Can you please try to reset your permalinks by going to Settings > Permalinks > Save Changes and see if that helps? Also clear any caching on your site before testing again.

    Thread Starter rely28

    (@rely28)

Ok, I did not cleared the cache, and now I’ve found the plugins who are messing this up. It’s Meow Lightbox and Meow Gallery (Pro). Whether I activate one or the other or both, I got the issue. I contacted the author of that plugin, but the problem is that he can’t replicate the issue while testing with a fresh version of wordpress and only yoast and those two plugins… So not sure what’s going on…

@rely28 When the issue occurs with those plugins, if you check in the browser console are any JavaScript errors shown? We have a guide on this here: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console/

I see no errors, only warnings :

    Hi,

Since you mentioned that there are no JavaScript errors, it’s difficult to say if it is a plugin conflict with the plugins you’ve mentioned (Meow Lightbox and Meow Gallery Pro) or if it could be something specific to your website.

Also, you did mention that you contacted the plugin developer of those plugins, right, and that they were also unable to reproduce the issue?

Also, from your end, if you only have Yoast SEO and a default theme, the slugs are showing up correctly?

    Thread Starter rely28

    (@rely28)

Okay, after some more testing, I see that it’s solely related to my theme… so hard to solve since I don’t have support on that theme anymore… Thanks anyway, I’ll deal with it.

    Hi @rely28,

Thanks for getting back to us and good luck with finding a solution for the theme.
