    small black circles all over my blog

    I have small black and white small circles all over my blog as a result of me trying to fix my rss feeds on my sidebar.php.

    I also have the words “div id=”menu” > in the upper right hand corner of the screen and my menu titles in my side bar are huge and my submenu items now have black squares instead of being blank and the numbers next to the categories are huge as opposed to the same font.

    I’m not sure how all this crap got there (ie what I did wrong ) and I don’t know how to fix it, have been trying for hours.

    any ideas?

  • Those circles and squares are just bullets. You’re missing the first < before your menu div. Find that line in your theme, add the < and you should be better.

    Thanks a lot Jenn,

    the circles are all gone now but I still have one < in the top right coner of the screen next to the search box. I’ve searched for double <‘s at the beginning of each line but couldn’t find it.

    any ideas on what it might be and where it might be in the code?

    it may not be a double – run your page through a validator, that should spot the error.

    You have used character data somewhere it is not permitted to appear. Mistakes that can cause this error include putting text directly in the body of the document without wrapping it in a container element (such as a aragraph) or forgetting to quote an attribute value (where characters such as “%” and “/” are common, but cannot appear without surrounding quotes).

    so got rid of the < and problem solved.
