Small “latest additions” text box for header/sidebar…

Hi,

I’ve been searching the forums for about an hour already, and I can’t find anything on this. What I’m trying to do is have a small text box somewhere on my site, that will show, say, the last 5 or 10 updates, as described by me in a text field. For example:

10-28-06: description
10-27-06: description

et cetera.

If anyone could help point me to a plugin (I’ve also been looking on wp-plugins.net for awhile now, and can’t find anything like this) or could tell me some other way of doing this, I would be very grateful. My hope is that there is a plugin somewhere that will let me add to this box from the dashboard, although I suppose I could just code it in, but then I would have to change the code every time I wanted to add a new update.
