Hi @vickienash1960,
smart crawl changed my page titles I had all my titles with my keywords in them. now my home page says :home/at your service cleaning.
If you meant Meta Keywords, then they aren’t required, please check the following for more info:
https://yoast.com/meta-keywords/
In general, SmartCrawl will be automatically picking the default page title and descriptions of the page and will display according to it. How are the keywords added? Trying to customize or add SEO changes for titles and descriptions within the theme side can cause conflicts.
An SEO plugin, in general, will override the default page title and description, so any changes regarding SEO would be better configured within the plugin side so that the SEO changes will be intact even if you switch to a new theme down the road.
You can always update your title either by editing the respective page or if you want all the titles to have a default format you can update that under SmartCrawl > Title & Meta too.
Please check our doc for more info regarding Titles & Meta:

this plugin also says it sees yoast data in my website and asks if i want that data imported with smart crawl But saw nowhere to click no. it has no yes or no.and I deleted yoast 2 days ago so where is this invisible yoast data?
If the Yoast data is still present on the database side, then the plugin will detect the settings present in the database and will ask whether it needs to be imported or not.
The admin notice at the moment offers the option to either dismiss the notice by clicking the “Close” button or you can run the importer if you want to import any configuration performer in Yoast by clicking the “Auto Import” option as seen in the following screenshot:

The Auto import would be the same setting under SmartCrawl > Settings > Import.
i am having no luck as i think all these seo plug ins are too techy for beginners. i have no clue what most of this is about. i was hoping for a set and forget but i cant do it on this one.
The settings are quite easy to configure once you know what all aspects need to be configured. For example, a basic configuration would compromise of setting up Titles & Meta, Social, Sitemap and robots.txt.
So maybe you could start with these and then explore other settings on the plugin side to tweak it further. You can refer to our doc for details instructions regarding these:
https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/smartcrawl/
Please do let us know how that goes.
Kind Regards,
Nithin
