After performing an update from our production site to live our smart slider is no longer working on mobile devices. – Have tried turning plugins like WP-Rocket off just to see if its a caching etc. – But with no success.

I am at loose-end with things to try.

    Thanks J

    Hi @marketingwp

Can you tell me exactly what’s not working on mobile anymore?

I checked your site on my Android phone and using Chrome’s emulator: https://developer.chrome.com/devtools/docs/device-mode#enable-device-mode
and the slider worked fine in both cases. I checked the navigation with bullets and also by swiping, both worked fine, and the autoplay, too.

This is what I saw on my phone: https://imgur.com/dRDuz9m

If you see something differently, can you share a screenshot? Also, can you tell me the version number of the OS and browser you’re seeing the problem on?

    Hi Ramona,

Good to hear from you. – On iPhone 8+ my last 3 slider images are not showing.

    Please see images.

    Hi @marketingwp

The problem on your slider is that the last 3 slides use webp image as background, e.g:
    /wp-content/uploads/slider7/wallaceprint_banner_008.webp
and currently no Safari browser supports webp images: https://caniuse.com/#feat=webp

Therefore, it won’t work on iPhone or Mac Safari either.

We don’t have fallback option for webp images, and neither have any option to change these automatically. (So these webp images could only get to the slider by a user, who selected them.)

The first slide has a png background, and I suggest changing the others to png as well.

    Hi @marketingwp

I assume your problem was related to that when you checked your slider, it still showed the earlier cached results with the webp, coming from WP Rocket. A few minutes ago I still saw the webp images in your slider and they didn’t show up on our iPad either in Safari, but as I see you managed to cleared and now the .PNG images are used.

So on my end the images in the slider now appearing both in Safari and iOS Chrome. Could you check it please again!

Thank for your help support both.

So SmartSlider 3 doesn’t support WebP image formats? – Will you in the future?

@marketingwp, Chrome on IOS devices is not a real Google Chrome browser. Chrome uses Safari to render the pages on IOS devices (iPhone/iPad). This is a limitation made by Apple. Every browser on IOS device must use Safari.

This is why webp images won’t show on those device whichever browser you use.

    Thanks

I’m using Smart Slider 3 with OceanWP and Elementor. I wanted the mobile screen slider to display full screen height/width as it does on laptop, but whatever settings I change, it doesn’t work. I’m assuming this is not possible.
Secondly, and more seriously, when I use a slider I created or the sample one it doesn’t display properly on a tablet in portrait mode – the section below the slider is pushed off the screen leaving a white space. This is the same when I use Chrome’s emulators – Ipad, Kindle etc. Is there any issue with tablet display?
    I have deactivated WPCache.

    Hi,

I am currently experiencing the same issue, but can’t seem to fix. Knowing now what I know about the WEBp images, why are they now showing, please help.

    Hi @marketingwp!

Is the problem you currently are seeing, that on your website:
    https://www.wallaceprint.com/
you are not seeing the images showing up on iPhone Chrome?

If you go directly to one of the images:
    https://www.wallaceprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/working_file_new.jpg
do you see it showing up?

Please tell me what is the iOS version number of your phone!

    Hi!

Thanks for coming back to me!

Yeah the issues are coming from the site your shared.

I am not seeing slide 2s image on any browser, is just grey..

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

We checked it out in multiple iOS devices, but couldn’t replicate the issue. Please tell me what is the iOS version number of your phone!

Also if you go directly to that image, which won’t show up:
    https://www.wallaceprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/wallaceprint_homepage_001.png
do you see it showing up just by itself?
